Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a simple, safe, painless diagnostic procedure that bounces high-frequency sound waves off parts of the body and captures the returning “echoes” as images. There is no injection or radiation exposure associated with ultrasound.

The Center for Diagnostic Imaging at Nyack Hospital offers many different types of ultrasound exams including abdomen, carotids, venous, pelvis, thyroid, renal, scrotum, and obstetrical. When enhanced with a special technique called Doppler, ultrasound can also capture blood flow in the vessels and document moving images of the heart using echocardiography.

Ultrasounds require a prescription from your healthcare provider.  You must bring the prescription with you on the day of the test.   If you have any previous imaging study results (x-ray, MRI, CT, etc.), such as reports, films, etc., from tests performed elsewhere, please bring them with you.

Because some patients are busy from 9am - 5 pm, we're open from 7 am - 7 pm, 7 days a week.  We also provide 24-hour emergency coverage.
