Intermediate Care Nursery

The Intermediate Care Nursery (ICN) at Nyack Hospital provides the highest standard of care to newborns who require specialized care upon arrival. The unit features equipment designed for infants and a hospital staff who have special training in newborn care. Many times, newborns who are born prematurely, have difficult births, or show signs of a health issue after birth are admitted to the ICN.

The healthcare professionals who care for newborns in the ICN include neonatologists, nurses, respiratory and/or physical therapists, nutritionists, laboratory technicians and social workers. Each role is vital to the care of the baby. Babies in the ICN are closely monitored and observed throughout their stay.
