PATRICIA JOSEPH, M.D., NAMED DIRECTOR OF BREAST AND WOMEN’S HEALTH PREVENTION SERVICES AT
NYACK HOSPITAL
Patricia Joseph, M.D.
Nyack Hospital announces the appointment of distinguished breast surgeon Patricia Joseph, M.D., as Director of Breast and Women’s Health Prevention Services.
A dedicated breast surgeon with a special interest in community outreach and education, Dr. Joseph brings over twenty years of experience to The Breast Center at Nyack Hospital. Her clinical expertise, reputation, and commitment to women’s health will improve the comprehensive array of services already offered at The Breast Center. As Director of Breast and Women’s Health Prevention Services, Dr. Joseph will work in collaboration with a team of surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists and radiologists to bring the Center to the next level of clinical excellence.
“I am delighted to be a part of the team at Nyack Hospital,” stated Dr. Joseph. “Working with this dedicated group of people and providing quality breast care services will enable Nyack Hospital to continue to be a leader in cancer treatment services in the community.”
Most recently, Dr. Joseph was in a private practice in Bergen County and served as the Cancer Liaison Physician for the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, receiving the Outstanding Performance Award in 2007.
Dr. Joseph recognizes the importance of counseling and educational services in caring for patients. “Since Rockland County has a high incidence of breast cancer, Nyack Hospital’s Cancer Genetics Program is extremely important for women in the County. This program, as well as Nyack Hospital’s relationship with the American Cancer Society, empowers women by giving them the necessary knowledge about their own health and risk factors. Patient involvement is vital to the success of any treatment plan, and The Breast Center is a valuable resource.” She continued, “I will be furthering the Hospital’s affiliation with Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and expanding the clinical trials available at Nyack Hospital.”
Dr. Joseph obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Chicago and graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her surgical internship at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and her surgical residency at Einstein-Montefiore Medical Centers. After her residency, Dr. Joseph was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Albert Einstein prior to launching her private practice. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Joseph has presented at a variety of community and professional health conferences, and is an active member in many national and regional medical and surgical societies. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the American Cancer Society, Northern New Jersey Region. In addition, Dr. Joseph has been named a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly (1999-2008) and included in New York Magazine’s “Top Doctors in New York” (1999-2008).
