The Blow Away Breast Cancer Campaign was created to promote breast health awareness within the community. All the funds raised throughout this month-long campaign will help provide breast care services to underserved women in Rockland County.
On Friday, October 19 at 11 AM, Patricia Joseph, MD, Director, Breast and Women’s Health Prevention Services at Nyack Hospital, will be speaking about the importance of early detection, how to protect you and your loved ones against breast disease, and how Nyack Hospital is here to help.
At last year’s event, a pink pinwheel was planted for each of those women as a reminder to make breast health a priority. Thank you to all who joined us and planted a pinwheel in honor of a loved one you have lost to breast cancer, someone who is currently battling the disease, or a breast cancer survivor. We hope you will join us again to continue this important new tradition.
The 2012 Blow Away Breast Cancer event will feature a new element… “The Baker’s Battle”! We are asking local bakeries in the area to create a “pinwheel” inspired delicious dessert. It can be a cookie, cupcake, pastry, etc. Local media and community “celebrities” will be judging the confections! Supporters are also asked to participate in a “pinwheel” pin-up program and buy a paper pinwheel at Supermarket check-outs and other local merchants. The pinwheels will be displayed throughout the month of October. The funds raised will go directly to screening and treatment for underserved women in our community .
