In 2004, Nyack Hospital and John Bosso, M.D., Chief of Allergy and Immunology and Medical Director of Allergy and Asthma Consultants of Rockland and Bergen, created a new Aspirin-Desensitization Program - the first of its kind in the area - that reintroduces aspirin to asthmatic patients in a controlled medical setting. Successful desensitization reduces upper and lower respiratory inflammation.
This translates into decreased nasal congestion, fewer nasal polyps, less sinusitis and improved asthma symptoms. Patients require fewer sinus surgeries and have a decreased need for oral corticosteroids.
Since its inception, the program has grown dramatically. Dr Bosso has desensitized more patients than any other physician in the Northeastern US. His greater than 20 years experience with aspirin desensitization and the management of Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (Samter's triad) is unmatched in the region. Our Same Day Surgery Nursing Staff has been personally trained by Dr Bosso to provide an outstanding and professional patient care experience.
